Serenity refers to a state of peacefulness where the mind is calm and unruffled by the external environment. This higher spiritual echelon, or inner peace, is accompanied by a sense of contentment and bliss. Human beings are distinct from all other life forms due to their intelligence and consciousness. The conscious mind perceives the external world and feels various emotions based on experiences and perception.

These feelings, emotions, and sentiments, in turn, determine our inner equilibrium or “inner life.” Consciousness, which stems from internalization of social values and morals, also plays a major role in directing the inner equilibrium. Most of the time, the inner life or equilibrium of a human mind is in a disturbed state. The mind is never at peace, and chaos reigns due to anger, shame, feelings of guilt, and sadness. The human mind strives to achieve the right balance or equilibrium. The eternal quest for the ultimate goal—bliss—proceeds in many directions.

Some seek respite in various forms of addiction, or others by passionately submerging themselves in work or pleasure. These paths, however, never satiate the true desire for peace or tranquility. Serenity, or peace, is achieved by striving for inner peace first. The most important step in this direction is to recognize the inner child of the mind. The second step emancipating the inner child from all forms of abuse and loving it unconditionally, like a child.

Self-love is the key to serenity. Self-love doesn’t require one to be directed by the inner child. One should take control as a conscious being and love one’s self, yet not be dictated by it. Some find serenity in nature; for others, serenity is found in visiting with family and friends. True serenity is achieved by empowering the inner life and allowing it to reflect the external life.

help someone quit drugs

Drug addiction denial is very common among people who insist they can quit drinking or drugging any time. You know you’ve heard this, it’s such a common promise or excuse to keep using. As much as it sounds like something positive, it can be a red flag for someone who has really lost control.

It’s not uncommon for a person with an addiction to say that they don’t really need to drink or use drugs, they just like it. Or they use it to cope, but they could really quit doing it any time.   When people recognize that they may have a drinking problem, but they are not aware that there are alternatives to Alcoholics Anonymous. For some people, Alcoholics Anonymous is not an option that meets their style of recovery. People has used a few simple techniques that helped them beat the bottle without Alcoholics Anonymous.

Addicts have benefited from cognitive therapy , which helps them to understand why they drink. In Alcoholics Anonymous, alcoholism is viewed as a disease which only a Higher Power can help you with. But outside AA, there are other models of recovery.  If you don’t understand why you drink booze, you can easily miss ways to manage these precipitants. Once you understand why you drink, you are prepared to take action with the CORE process – Commit, Objectify, Respond, Enjoy. This simple process can help you stay away from alcohol for good.

It is a hard pill to swallow at first, but the truth of the matter is that family and friends are probably not going to be able to directly change an alcoholic’s behavior. Manipulating or threatening the alcoholic will only drive them deeper into isolation and heavy drinking.

If you try to control another person’s drinking, you are going to experience a loss of control and real powerlessness. Instead, if you focus on changing your own behavior, you will experience full control and an empowering mindset. This is how you go about helping an alcoholic: by focusing on your own behavior and how you choose to interact with the alcoholic….not by focusing on how you can manipulate or change the other person.

Basically, people use substances such as alcohol and other drugs because they like the way these substances make them feel. Pleasure is a powerful force. Your brain is wired so that if you do something that feels good, you will probably want to do it again. All drugs that are addicting can activate and affect the brain’s pleasure circuit.  Help the addict by engaging them in pleasurable activities that are safe and not themed around drugs.  You not only will help them find new places, people, and things that are positive, you will also show introduce yourself to new and better activities.

Alcohol Free Party

Parties are fun but planning them can be work. The more carefully you plan your next party the more likely you succeed. Many times parties are associated with alcohol.  Many recoverying addicts move to settings where people, places, and things do not include alcohol or symbols of their addiction.   Alcohol free party planning can result in a  better party. A successful party can help you entertain friends, family or coworkers. It can help you maintain or start long lasting friendships. If you play your cards right, a successful party can help you get promoted more quickly.

How much money you spend on the party is one of the most important aspects of party planning. You have to know how much money you can afford to spend per guest. The budget determines what kind of food and drinks you can serve. A large budget doesn’t guarantee a successful party and a tight budget doesn’t guarantee a disappointing party.

You can save a lot of money by serving soft drinks, and avoiding alcoholic beverages all together. If your party is during the day, you can more easily get away with no alcoholic beverages. Most people don’t drink during the day.

If it is a party with children present, you can easily explain an alcohol free party. An alcohol free party yields a more peaceful environment, and fights are much less likely. It is much more easier to control sober guests than a bunch of drunks. Baby showers provide a great opportunity for a sober party as a form of solidarity for the pregnant mother.

Not only that you save money because non-alcoholic drinks cost less, at the end of the party there are no arguments about who’s going to drive home!
